Away from the web with nothing to do.
Jul. 29th, 2009 10:30 pmSATURDAY:
I'm in Springfield right now with my mom and step dad, doing a shit-ton of work on the house. Ray got a four day leave from Indiana just to come down and work, he's so awesome. Got down here Friday morning and emptied out the storage unit. (OMG, so creepy
crashcart9 do you remember Tiny? The guy who signed me up for the storage unit? Well, we had to rent a truck to get the big stuff mom and ray had brought down a few weeks before and Tiny, I guess he is the manager?, called to confirm the order and mom casually mentioned that we'd also be done with the unit and he was all "My little Rachel's leaving me?" SO CREEPED OUT, dude.) Then we just did a bunch of shopping.
Today we did nothing but work. We put in all the new light fixtures (two of them) and three fans (we moved the one in the living room into the second bedroom, put up a new on in the living room and a new one in my bedroom), put in a new porch light, planed three doors so they'd actually fit into their door jams, put in an under sink water filter (dude, how fucking cool is that?), fixed the sink after it broke from being fiddled with, went to Lowe's three times, painted the corner pieces for the crown moulding and cleaned. By Monday evening, I would like to have: a new mailbox put up (especially since I no longer have one as of yesterday afternoon), all/most of the crown moulding put up, painted doors, painted front door, a peep-hole installed in aforementioned front door, my closet organizer put up, some shelves put up in the laundry room and in the second bedroom, and a programmable thermostat put in (which has a ten percent discount!) That's a lot of stuff, I am well aware. I wish we'd put up the closet organizer last night (Saturday night, that is) but I'd run Ray ragged and he went to bed at like, 10. It was ridiculous. I hope we can get at least half of that done tomorrow - the closet organizer, the bathroom's crown moulding, the doors painted and the front door painted. *shrug* we shall see.
Paid my first bill last week - it will now continue for the rest of my natural life. Awesome.
Took my first shower in my new house! The water pressure is pretty good, but with the shower head the water sometimes felt like tiny little needles, which was not as good, but still kind of pleasant? Meh, getting a new one of those may be added to my never-shrinking "to buy" list.
I have some of the most awesome neighbors. Apparently, there was a break in a few houses down? Doesn't happen often or whatever, but the neighbors have been watching the house for me while I've been gone. And they are really friendly, too. Next door neighbor guy actually helped mom and me bring in my dining room table a few weekends ago because it was fucking heavy.
I have to call in for PDI (no, I have no idea what it stands for) this morning. We're in a "push" period - the two weeks right before a conference - and I've done terribly. Like, so bad that I honestly won't be surprised if I'm fired. Which, other than the black mark on my resume, don't so much give a flying fuck. Anyway, I told work that I'd be trying to see if my neighbors would want to do a demonstration with me - but I just haven't had the time. So, in an effort to not be scolded while I'm working my ass off, I'm going to lie and say that I visited six houses, three weren't home (those are the neighbors I actually plan on hitting up if I have the time), two were completely disinterested and one said she'd think about it. *shrugs* As soon as I get another job (and I'm applying like, right when I get home) I'm telling these people to go fuck themselves (only not literally) and saying goodbye to sales forever. The product is freaking fantastic, but if I have to listen to being judged as unlikeable simply because of the people I see who don't give me recommendations and the fact that I HAVE NO FRIENDS one more time I may blow something up. No lie...okay, total lie, but still. Like I don't have enough self-esteem issues already?
Anyway. This will be posted when I get home Monday evening, and I'll probably add on to it. So, as of Sunday morning at 2:11 am, I'm signing off and attempting sleep.
SUNDAY:
I don't think I've ever realized just how grouchy my period makes me. This morning I thought I was gonna kill my family. Of course, I was sleeping on the couch when they came out and started talking in normal voices - which would wake me up even when I had my medicine so I totally bitched them out and glared a bunch. I didn't fall asleep until like, three and then they woke me up around six. Bastards.
I just built two drawers for my closet organizer all by myself because I'm awesome and painted my two closet doors. Mom and Ray are at Lowe's again, getting something better to brace the closet organizer because the house is just a wee bit tilted so nothing is level. I wish I had pr0n to read, but I read everything I'd saved last night. *sighs* I MISS YOU INTERWEBS.
Okay, so I totally forgot about writing this, fail.
I painted the front door, and the bathroom, dining room and living room were all ... crown moulded? Meh. Whatever. Mom and I are going back this weekend to paint trim/caulk the moulding and such and clean like none other.
GUYS! I may be buying this kitten tomorrow!!! http://www.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=14271194
I hope he is still there when I visit.
